The single biggest advantage of using an alternative building system is the opportunity to bring a project in on time and within the project budget.
Other advantages include:Rapid building processes save time
Drycraeft has been involved in the following projects over the last 10 years.
Drycraeft is able to supply buildings utilising the Alternative building technologies as indicated below.
The main advantage of using a SIP PANEL in the construction of a building is the time saving of up to 40% in the erection time of the building!

Structural Insulated Panels (SIP)s are a high performance building system for residential, commercial and institutional construction. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically Calcium Silicate or Magnesium Oxide (MgO) boards. SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design.
The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. The use of SIPs in your building project will enable you to benefit from the Time/Value saving ability of the system.

A good alternative to SIP panels for a temporary or semi-permanent building solution is to use Metal-clad insulated panels. These lightweight panels have a metal skin that can be of Galvanised mild steel or Aluminium sheets with an enamelled colour coat applied to the external surface. The panels have an inner core of either Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) or of Polyurethane foam (PUR). The thickness of this inner core can be varied to suit the client's or local building code requirements.
The size of these panels can be varied to suit a particular building application. The standard width of a panel is 1180mm.

Cellfab's patented product, cell reinforcement uses geometric shapes of thin metal sheets to form a range of reinforcement products currently used in markets such as masonry, concrete and road production industries.
In particular the application of their CRP70 profile can be inserted into a Sip Panel to improve its structural integrity. This will enable the number of storeys of a building to be increased without the need for additional external structural steel supports.
This Cellfab profile has achieved the European standards CE mark 1505 for use with PUR composite, Concrete, foam concrete panels to be used for offices, public and residential buildings.
The Drycraeft team has recently been joined by Les Abbot of the LA Design Studio. He is a South African registered professional Architect with over 30 years’ experience. The Drycraeft team is headed up by Jon Buxton, the Managing Director.

Managing Director
Jon Buxton’s experience with Alternative Building Systems started in 1995 working with British Steel on the introduction of their Light Steel Frame (LSF) building system into South Africa. He was introduced to other Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) systems in 2001. These panels ranged from those clad with Cement-particle board to the pre-painted metal clad type.
He co-founded a company in 2002 to manufacture and supply the metal clad insulated panels for use in various building types including schools, mine accommodation hostels, clinics, residential buildings and commercial offices. These buildings were installed throughout South Africa and various sub-Saharan Africa countries including Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Jon co-founded Drycraeft Corporation (Pty) Ltd with Andrew Withers in 2013 to consult on and Project manage the supply of buildings using SIP panels in collaboration with other panel manufacturers. He is currently the Managing Director of the company.

Director
Andrew has had a varied career after taking a BA (Hons) degree in Economic and Political History. He is a French speaker.
He worked for the Asian Region of John Blackwood Hodge Plc, looking after the administration of territories where heavy earth moving equipment distributed by the company was sold. This included Burma, Singapore, Pakistan, Bangladesh. This division then expanded into Iraq, Iran, Yemen and other countries in the middle east on major infrastructure projects.
Andrew has been involved with prefabricated building and housing for the last thirty years. He has worked in the construction industry in various roles in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for most of his career.
He has been retained by Lonrho Plc as a consultant on accommodation and infrastructure projects in Mozambique, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea and Swaziland.
In 2013 he was working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the King Abdullah Aziz Sports City manufacturing and installing of PAS 68 CT (Counter Terror) blocks to safe guard the stadium from vehicle borne terrorist attack. The client being Samsung SDS.

Director
Les Abbott is a South African registered Professional Architect. He is also the Principal of LA Design Studio which is now working in association with Drycraeft Corporation. This now enables Drycraeft to provide a professional architectural service to its discerning clients.
Les has an early background in Structural engineering which has given him a good understanding of building dynamics and design. He has been involved in many successful projects ranging from multi-story apartment buildings, executive homes and townhouse developments to large industrial and commercial projects.
As a result of the expertise that Les has developed from his engineering background he has a good understanding of alternative building technologies such as SIPS construction, Light Steel and Timber frame which complements his experience in conventional construction methods.
Les is also passionate about educating the Public and giving assistance regarding all aspects of the greater building industry.
Drycraeft is now able to offer new building designs and conversion of existing building designs to facilitate the use of SIP panels. We work in collaboration with Les Abbott’s company LA Design Studio to provide this service.
Drycraeft is looking to expand into South and Sub-Saharan Africa and in this process is looking to form partnerships with other companies and persons who are either involved or would like to become involved in alternative Building methods. We are especially interested in looking at persons to join the team in South Africa initially!
Drycraeft will be looking to adopt the South African B-BBEE initiatives in their employment objectives..
